My journey from Pediatrics to the Pantry

Hello! I’m Victoria (also known as Vikki or Mom), owner and Organizer at Sorted. Sorted is an all-inclusive organizing company right here in my favorite city, New Orleans.

I’ve been trained as a pediatric nurse and started working almost 20 years ago. My career took me all over the United States working in several pediatric departments for a travel nursing company. I saw so much, learned so much, and, most importantly, met countless wonderful people. How did I get here organizing people’s pantries you ask?

Well, I like to think I have helped to save many lives, but was it my passion? No. Did I find some joy in it? Sometimes. Was I excited to go to work everyday? No.

I used to secretly organize the trauma rooms before a code would come in. I would straighten up a patient’s messy room before I could even look them in the eye. I used to volunteer to order supplies so we would never run out. When visiting friends, I reorganized their home layout in my mind—not out of judgment, but out of a desire to create a more efficient space for them. Growing up I begged my mother to organize her pantry and closets.

Do you see a common theme here? When I’m happy, I organize. When I’m stressed, I organize. It has always brought me joy and a sense of peace and calmness. It is my passion and what I’m best at.

I’ve spent the last five years at home with my kids, but this fall my oldest is starting Kindergarten. Where has the time gone? As I was working on my resume to head back into the hospital, I had an ah-ha moment. My gut and heart were yelling at me—now is the time! Start your business! Do what you love!  You can have your dream job. You can still help people but just in a different way. So that is what I am doing,

I am so thrilled and giddy about this new phase and opportunity to help people declutter their homes and put systems in place to save them time, money, and energy.  I love working in kid’s spaces, offices, entryways, and pantries, but I truly love any space that can be sorted!

Stay tuned for helpful tips and more from Sorted!
